publics-arts.ch: The digital citizen archive on the Swiss Sculpture Exhibition ESS-SPA
The SNSF project The Publics of Art. The History of the Swiss Sculpture Exhibition is launching a call for collections: They are looking for snapshots from private photo albums, personal memories in image, text and audio formats about the sculpture exhibition in Biel/Bienne. Documents can be sent in via an upload form on publics-arts.ch. A digital archive is growing here thanks to contributions from the public. The submitted documents are published and searchable in a gallery.
With the website, the Institute for Modern and Contemporary Art History of the University of Bern initiated a four-year research project on the history of the Swiss Sculpture Exhibition. It is being carried out by Peter J. Schneemann and his colleagues Yvonne Schweizer and Seraina Peer. The project will also be integrated into an exhibition at the Neues Museum Biel with the participation of Bernese master students and under the direction of the director Bernadette Walter.
