Toward a New Pygmalionism
Movement I of Le Mouvement: Sculptures on the Move has a two-fold purpose: to acknowledge and pay homage to the long-standing public sculpture tradition in which this exhibition takes place while liberating sculpture not merely from the pedestal, but also transforming it from a static, fixed representation of motion into an actual kinetic act of motion via the performing, human body. In other words, Sculptures on the Move is eminently, but not exclusively Pygmalion.
