8th Swiss Sculpture Exhibition Biel
N.Morgenthaler: Karl Geiser
Karl Geiser, 1898-1957 – The sculptor as photographer
It is a well-known and undisputed fact that Karl Geiser is one of Switzerland's most significant artists of the first half of our century. But the fact that Geiser was an avid photographer who even enlarged his own negatives is probably known to but very few art lovers.
The Swiss Foundation of Photography in Zürich [more recently in Winterthur] has been entrusted with Geiser's entire photographic estate. In the context of a small exhibition at the Volkshaus [of Biel], Walter Binder, the director of the foundation, will present a selection of these interesting and artistic documents of the photographer sculptor. This is an opportunity to remember an artist who has not been showcased in a major exhibition for nearly thirty years.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a brochure, available from the SPA Kiosk next to the Information Office.
